As part of South Somerset District Council's corporate objectives, the Economic Development Service along with other services has the following core objectives:

• Targeted promotion of inward investment
• Work in partnership with the public and private sector in delivery of the Yeovil Vision
• Work in partnership with the public and private sectors in developing and delivery of the  Market Towns Vision
• Identify and address the particular issues affecting rural areas
• Implementing the Yeovil Incubation and Enterprise Centre

Day to Day Activities:

• Provide advice to rural based businesses
• Assisting those wishing tostart a new business
• Signposting new and existing businesses to business grants

 The Economic Development Service aims to:

• Ensure that an officer will available give general advice and information Monday to Thursday 8.30 - 5.15pm, Friday 8.30am to 4.45pm
• Be fair in the way we deliver our service and provide services accessible to all our customers
• Ensure that our service continues to meet our customers' needs by reviewing and amending our procedures to take account of your views
• Be responsible for the accurancy and quality of our work
• Invest in our staff development so we can improve continually and help you more effectively.Provide a named officer to businesses seeking planning advice or making a planning application to advise and help as part of our Business Ambassador Service
• Provide bespoke advise to farmers seeking diversification and to rural businesses
• Provide regularly updated information on commercial and employment land and premises available for development and commercial uses
• Provide comprehensive and up to date information about our services on our web site.
