The practice of tattooing, cosmetic piercing, semi permanent
skin colouring, electrolysis and the business of acupuncture.
The Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982
requires that all persons that are carrying out skin piercing be
registered with the local authority. Please see
how to apply.
If you work from premises, they must also be registered.
Once registered, you will be issued with a certificate of
registration.

Eligibility criteria
|
|
You must provide specific information including details of your
premises and any previous convictions.
Once a premises has been registered, it is a legal requirement
for the business to inform us of any changes in its practising
staff and location.

Application evaluation process
|
|
There is a fee payable to South Somerset District Council.
If the application fails the enforcement element of £20 , will
be refunded.
No provision in legislation.

Will tacit consent apply?
|
|
No. It is in the public interest that the authority must process
your application before it can be granted.
Please allow a minimum of 30 days for your application to be
processed.

offence by contravention of the relevant byelaw.
