South Somerset District Council awarded a grant of £1,260 to
'South Somerset Mind' in January 2011, to help fund the renovation
of their kitchen.
The kitchen is used to run cooking classes and healthy cooking
projects from the Markwick Center. They also cook meals as part of
their community days on Wednesdays. They plan to replace the
cooker, sink and worktops and install a semi-industrial floor
covering.
Local Doctor Surgeries have reported higher than county average
instances of Mental Health issues in the area and South Somerset
Mind provides a valuable service for these residents.
