The branch had escaped cutbacks in the network the
previous year and Post Office Ltd. are keen to see a service
open again in Westfield.
South Somerset District Council, P.O Ltd
and Westfield Community Association have
been working closely to try and re-establish a service. It was
originally hoped that original premises could re-open but plans
fell through at the last hurdle.
Efforts to find a new premises have been difficult.
With so much time passing since the closure, Westfeild
Community Association (with support from P.O Ltd and South Somerset
District Council) undertook a survey to assess customer demand
for re-opening a post office. The results indicated that the
community still wanted a local post
office therefore efforts continue to find a premises and
a new sub-postmaster.
