Support surgeries for migrant workers

Drop in surgeries for migrant communities have  been set up as part of a partnership project.

This project is funded by the Migration Impact Fund through a levy paid by students and workers coming from new A8 European Countries since 2004 under the Worker Registration Scheme to the UK.

The Community Link Worker from SSDC will provide a bridge between SSDC and migrant communities living and working in the South Somerset area.

The surgeries will provide advice, assistance and support, to migrant communities on a range of issues including:

  • Benefit applications
  • Employment/unemployment issues
  • Housing issues
  • Education issues
  • Neighbourhood disputes
  • Community safety
