SSDC Community Grants

We believe in supporting innovative communities who seek help to help themselves. Our successful community grants programme can support voluntary and charitable organisations, not-for-profit groups, parish or town councils and other organisations who benefit the wider community.

Our community grants programme is administered by the Area Development Service. We encourage applications that meet a clearly identified local need in areas such as:

We also aim to fund projects which target particular groups within our community:

  • people at risk of, or suffering from, poor health
  • people with mental health problems
  • children and young people up to age 18
  • older people (see also help for old people)
  • people on low incomes
  • people facing exclusion in urban and rural areas
  • people seeking to improve and develop work or educational skills

Our main programme of community grants can fund up to 50 per cent of project costs to a maximum of £12,500. If you would like to speak to someone about this grant fund or obtain an application pack please contact us.

Our available funds cannot always stretch as far as we would like - but we may still be able to help you identify sources of funding, or help with project planning. Follow this link for ideas for other sources of fundraising and help for your group or project.

Please contact us for details of of how we can make larger awards to particular projects or to groups providing services across South Somerset
