Apart from being a great way to grow your own food,
allotments are also a great way to meet people and help stay fit
and active.
Allotments are significant to our green spaces and provide
habitats for many forms of wildlife. In general allotment gardens
are for the sole use of the cultivation of soft fruit and
vegetables for consumption by the tenants, their family and
friends.
Most allotments in the district of South Somerset belong to
either town or parish councils.
We are responsible for only four allotment sites:
- Bondfield Way, Chard
- Bakersfield, Winsham, Chard
- Little Sammons, Chilthorne Domer
- Lakefields, West Coker
