Private sector housing

We have powers and responsibilities to ensure that housing conditions in the private sector are satisfactory. All properties should be safe and suitable to be lived in and, if they are not, we can serve notices requiring remedial works to be carried out.

We work closely with landlords to encourage and develop private sector housing in South Somerset.

This new scheme is designed to raise the standard of accommodation in the private rented sector by accrediting well-run good-quality properties.
