FRIDAY - YEOVIL
|

This is our biggest market in the district with the street
filled with all types of stalls. Again it is held in lower Middle
Street with parking close by.
Yeovil has a long history as a market town. Prior to the mid 1800's
indoor markets were held in the old Market
House and butchers held a market in the shambles. The market moved
to Middle Street in 1996.

SATURDAY - CHARD

Chard market, is now being run by Chard Town
Council - contact Terry Powell, Operations Manager, on 01460

Held in Fore Street right in the centre of the town, this busy
market is surrounded by on street parking and is in easy walking
distance of all the town's car parks.
Chard is the most southerly town in Somerset, 1 mile from the
Devon border and has held a market on Saturdays since before
1887.
The town is renowned for its mill trade and was home to John
Stringfellow, the inventor of powered flight in 1843.

TUESDAY - YEOVIL

Yeovil's Tuesday market is held in lower Middle Street with
parking close by. This market features stalls as diverse as
anywhere with all the usual favourites.
The market in Yeovil has 800 years of history, dating back to 1205
when King John granted the Market Charter. Yeovil is renowned for
it's Helicopters
at Westlands and for Pittards leather which is now used for
sporting activities
world wide.

WEDNESDAY - CREWKERNE

Crewkerne Market is now being run by our Area West
office - contact 01935 462462.
This market takes place in the centre of South Street car park
providing easy access. This midweek market features all the regular
favourites and frequent guest appearances by specialist
traders.
Crewkerne has been an important town since pre-Norman Conquest
times, and today succeeds in integrating modern industries and
facilities into its traditional setting. It had a major hand in the
Battle of Trafalgar, not only having made the sails for Nelson's
battleship, The Victory, but also having educated its flag captain
and final confidante, Admiral Hardy.

THURSDAY - ILMINSTER
|

Held in Market Square in the old stone Market House this market
overflows into East Street and features street parking all round,
with a good selection of stalls.
Ilminster is mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086) and by this
period had a flourishing community and was granted the right to
hold a weekly market, as it does today.
