You are take advantage of ProActive if:
- You are taking up exercise for the first time and are motivated
to start a healthy lifestyle
- You have one of the following medical conditions
*Obesity *Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) *Stable
Angina *Stroke *Diabetes *Respiratory conditions
such as Asthma or COPD *Epilepsy
*Arthritis *Osteoporosis *Injury Rehabilitation *Lower
Back Pain *Mild Mental Health Conditions *High risk of
Coronary Heart Disease *Cardiac Rehabilitation (not available
at all leisure providers)
What activities does ProActive include?
- Gym sessions - all centres offer a fully
equipped gym with access to treadmills, cross trainers, bikes,
rowing machines and weight machines. Qualified staff are on hand
for advice and support during supervised sessions.
- Pilates - is offered at selected leisure
centres
- Swimming - use of pool and access to pool
based classes such as aqua aerobics, where the centre has pool
provision
- Circuits - are offered at selected
centres
- Studio classes - are offered at selected
centres
To join the scheme you must be referred by a medical
practitioner (for example, GP or Practice Nurse) if
they consider that being more physically active would benefit
your health needs.
