The group works in partnership with local tennis clubs and the
Lawn Tennis Association, the National Governing Body for Tennis.

| South Somerset Mini Tennis Series |
We are now in our fourth year of the Mini Tennis Series in South
Somerset and continue to work with our Junior Tournament
Co-ordinator to improve the junior performance of young tennis
players in South Somerset.
Mini Tennis is a variation of tennis using smaller courts and
slower balls to allow junior players to improve their skills. There
are three different levels, Red, Orange and Green dependent on
age.
As with the all events in the South Somerset Mini Tennis Series,
all junior tennis players competing will need to be a member of
British Tennis and have a LTA rating. This is so that we can track
the performance of junior tennis players in South Somerset.
Membership of British Tennis is free for any junior player who is a
member of an affiliated tennis club.

| South Somerset Mini Tennis Red Schools
Competition |
The South Somerset Tennis Development Group in partnership with
the Lawn Tennis Association, South Somerset District Council and
tennis clubs within the district have organised the Mini Tennis Red
Competition since 2009. The competition involves taster
sessions within each local school, a 6-week coaching programme, a
series of cluster competitions and culminates in a Mini Tennis Red
Schools Final at Martock Tennis Club each year.

| South Somerset Tennis Development Squads |
The South Somerset Tennis Development Group, in partnership with
Somerset Lawn Tennis Association and South Somerset District
Council, set up Tennis Development Squads in 2009 to improve levels
of performance in tennis by creating local talent selection and
development pathways that are linked to county and regional LTA
programmes.
The squads will take place in Mini Tennis Red, Orange, Green and
Full Tennis Yellow, with all squads being age specific.
