Building regulations

Building regulations exist to ensure the health, safety, welfare and convenience of people in and about buildings. They also include provisions for energy conservation and for access and facilities for disabled people.

Building Control Application Forms

Anyone intending to carry out building works controlled by the Building Regulations must first either give the local authority a Building Notice, or deposit a Full Plans Application.

Building Control Charges Calculator

The Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 2010 are now in force, and the calculator will automatically work out the correct amount for the type of work proposed.   The scheme is based on four tables covering new houses, domestic extensions and alterations, non-domestic alterations and extensions, and for projects based on the cost of work  (both domestic and non-domestic) where there is a ceiling of £75,000 beyond which the Building Control Unit will have to be contacted.
