Yeovil has a long history as a market town

Prior to the mid 1800's indoor markets were held in the old Market House and the butchers held a market in the shambles. The market moved to Middle Street in 1996.

The market in Yeovil has 800 years of history, dating back to 1205 when King John granted the Market Charter. Yeovil is renowned for its helicopters at Westlands and for Pittards leather which is now used for sporting activities worldwide.
