Religion or Belief

Religion has the meaning usually given to it but belief includes religious and philosophical beliefs including lack of belief (e.g. Atheism). Generally, a belief should affect your life choices or the way you live  for it to be included in the definition.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission. Part of the Commission's remit is to tackle discrimination on the grounds of religion and belief.

The Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) can provide expert information, advice and support on discrimination and human rights issues and the applicable law, especially if you need more help than advice agencies and other local organisations can provide.

  

 

Inter Faith Week

 Inter Faith week occurs annually. Its aims are:

  • to strengthen good inter faith relations at all levels
  • to increase awareness of the different and distinct faith communities in the UK, in particular celebrating and building on the contribution which their members make to their neighbourhoods and wider society; and
  • to increase the understanding between people of religious and non-religious belief
