What is fly posting?

Fly-posting is displaying material such as posters and advertising without permission. It is an unsightly, anti-social activity which spoils the environment and contributes to street litter.

This leaflet explains some of the things that you can and can't do.

What we do about it?

The Council has powers to deal with fly-posting on the highway or in public places. Where unauthorised fly posting is found we will usually ask the responsible person to remove the signs. If this is not done we will usually remove them ourselves and can recover our costs in doing so. As well as removing fly posting, we can take action against the people responsible. We have powers to prosecute both the people putting up the material and the businesses being advertised.
