What we’re looking for… 

An enthusiastic and motivated individual to help the Council deliver on its ambitious actions to address the climate change emergency as set out in its Environment Strategy alongside supporting our Economic Development team to support Employment and Skills activity. 

You will play an important role in ensuring that SSDC and its wider communities are working towards carbon neutrality by 2030.

The work will include developing a marketing and communications plan that delivers bespoke materials to and for our communities and visitors, helping SSDC achieve its environmental goals. You will also have a role in helping inform communities about how they can access funding around renewable energy while also creating campaigns that champion innovative climate change actions. 

The role will also see you provide comprehensive administrative and communications specific support to the Employment and Skills Coordinator in our Economic Development team. You will help to manage and create content for a new website, produce messaging for social media platforms and key user groups, and provide additional support which helps deliver the communications goals of our Economic Development Strategy, boosting the local economy as we continue to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. 

The successful candidate will know how to create successful, targeted, easy-to-understand communications across multiple platforms while also being able to support and plan engagement activity. Knowledge of social media platforms and effective webpage creation will also be desirable. 

The post holder will work closely with both the Environment Strategy and Economic Development team to engage a wide range of audiences.
