What we’re looking for…
Someone with a passion for working in the countryside and conservation sector to deliver a high standard of conservation management and site maintenance, at this popular country park on the edge of Yeovil. You will need strong practical skills and the ability to lead a team, as you will be supported by an assistant ranger, casual rangers and a dedicated and enthusiastic team of volunteers. Surrounded by woodlands, meadows, historical park landscape, rivers, lakes and ponds, you will lead the team in the management of these varied habitats. You will have responsibility for the overall general maintenance of the country park, carrying out annual health & safety inspections and working with your team to ensure Yeovil Country Park is safe and accessible for its visitors. You will develop additional opportunities for visitors and the local communities to become involved at the country park, including delivery of an annual programme of public events. You will implement wildlife monitoring schemes to ensure appropriate management of the site and its protected species and you will work alongside the wider countryside team to manage and protect all of South Somerset’s countryside sites.
