South Somerset is one of the largest and most fascinating district local authorities in the country. The area has a thriving, diverse economy and is home to world leading, high tech aerospace, engineering and manufacturing businesses. A strong agricultural sector drives world renowned food and drink production and tourism. The quality of life in our villages and towns is unrivalled attracting many to visit, settle and develop their careers and businesses here.

With innovative strategies, we are striving to make South Somerset an even better place to live, work and invest. A key part of this vision is to deliver quality, pioneering new infrastructure and major developments. Regeneration projects are already being implemented in our major market towns of Yeovil, Chard and Wincanton.

We are looking for a professionally qualified or part qualified CCAB (e.g. CIPFA / ACCA / CIMA) who has experience working in a finance team within the public and/or private sector with a broad range of financial and accounting skills.  An individual who is familiar working with financial systems and who can contribute to the smooth and efficient running of financial processes. You will provide a professional service with high standards of advice and support, whilst ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, legislation, professional codes of practice and adherence to Council policy.

What you can expect from us…

  • We will deliver a supportive and rewarding work environment and help you shape a Personal Development Plan to boost your career
  • The opportunity to be part of a small team working together to develop even better ways of working
  • Agile working practices giving you the flexibility to work in a way that meets your needs and the needs of the Council
  • Access to some excellent benefits including generous annual leave and discounts to name a few

We are striving to be great to work for, excellent to work with, leading the way and delivering for our communities. Come and help us achieve that!
