Job Title: Specialist – People (HR Business Partner or Senior HR Officer)

Salary: Grade 7, £36,371 to £40,578                                   

Hours: 37 per week

Status: Fixed term contract to 31st March 2023 (this may be extended)

Location: Agile, home working with occasional travel into our Yeovil offices/depot as required.

We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner or Senior HR Officer to join a busy but friendly and supportive team here at South Somerset District Council.

The role involves working in close partnership with Directors, Assistant Directors and with our Leadership and Management team offering an excellent and commercially focused People service. The role holder would need to deliver professional advice, guidance and proactive HR support to the management team and staff as well as support with employee relations cases, recruitment, management development and some project-based work.

We are looking for a great team player who can provide practical support to all areas of the council when required. This could range from supporting with a complex employee relations case to helping put together and analyse HR metrics for the SLT. The role holder must be able to develop positive working relationships quickly and often remotely, with the ability to understand business context, flexibility and desire to provide pragmatic people focused solutions to the council.

You will ideally be qualified at CIPD Level 5 or 7 or have equivalent strong HR experience and have gained valuable experience working within the public and/or private sector.

We operate agile working practices and you will largely be working from home, but you may be required to travel to our offices, depot or other council locations in Yeovil from time to time.
