Discover South Somerset with the help of our free visitors guide

Discovering rural England at its best couldn't be easier thanks to South Somerset District Council's free visitors guide, Discover South Somerset.

Discover South Somerset has 39 pages of places to go and activities to enjoy organised into sections - such as Countryside, Let us entertain you, Days out and A taste of South Somerset. The guide also includes a handy fold-out map.

South Somerset's unspoilt countryside is perfect for exploring on foot, by bike or by horseback. Watch wildlife, go fishing or enjoy a round of golf. Take the car and enjoy the slow lane meandering around orchards and woodlands, up on the hills or down in the valleys.

You can explore beautiful houses and gardens, museums and historic churches. There are tempting places to eat and drink and intriguing independent shops where you can buy something special to take home.

In each section of the guide there is an introduction which helps you to create ideas of places to discover and things to do in South Somerset. The market towns and villages offer artisan shops, fine architecture and zany street names and each section of the guide also carries advertisements for local businesses.

Councillor Clare Aparicio Paul, Portfolio Holder for Tourism said, "The District Council is distributing the new Discover South Somerset brochures widely across the UK through Tourist Information Centres, railway stations and motorway service stations to encourage more people to visit this beautiful area of England.

"Tourism is an important part of our local economy and we are looking forward to giving a special Somerset welcome to many new visitors this year, to share the attractions and wonderful countryside that is so close at hand for those of us who are lucky enough to live and work here".

Discover South Somerset is available from Yeovil and Cartgate Tourist Information Centres. You can also download a copy at www.discoversouthsomerset.com. If you require a bulk quantity of the brochure, please contact Take One Media by calling 01392 531951.
