The flag will remain in place for the week, ahead of the
national Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24 June.
The raising of the flag is an opportunity for the nation to show
support for the men and women who make up the Armed forces
community, from serving troops to Service families, veterans and
cadets.
Councillor Mike Best, Chairman of South Somerset District
Council said, "It is important that we show our appreciation of the
men and women who stand ready to defend our country and communities
by raising the flag at our main offices."
The UK Armed Forces defend the country and its interests. Every
day of the year, across the world, they are working hard fighting
terrorism, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers, providing
security and promoting peace.
