Crewkerne businesses to help develop action plan of local economic projects

Local businesses in Crewkerne will soon be asked to give their thoughts and opinions to ascertain what issues are important to businesses in and around the town.

South Somerset District Council (SSDC) is working with A Better Crewkerne & District (ABCD) to consult with businesses during March. The information provided will be used to help identify local projects and actions that can benefit the town's economy.

ABCD will use the data collected to apply for grants to fund the work identified from the consultation. The more completed forms received, the easier it will be to persuade funders and other relevant organisations, to support the actions needed to benefit businesses in and around Crewkerne.

Diane Butler, Chairman of ABCD said, "The future of the town relies on a thriving economy if Crewkerne is not to become a dormitory town for elsewhere. ABCD needs to understand the needs of local businesses in order to help future proof the economy of Crewkerne"

Councillor Carol Goodall, Chairman of Area West Committee at South Somerset District Council added, "The results from this consultation will help our Officers work with A Better Crewkerne & District to enhance the town's economy and put an action plan in place which is backed by the local businesses that currently occupy the town centre and surrounding area. We look forward to welcoming feedback from the businesses."

A paper copy of the consultation will be delivered to each business in and around the town centre of Crewkerne  Businesses located away from the town centre will be emailed an online survey.
