‘All the fun of the fair’ at Yeovil’s Super Saturday event this weekend

South Somerset District Council is excited to be supporting Yeovil Town Council's Super Saturday event this Saturday.

With all the fun of the fair promised for the day, Yeovil town centre will play host to a range of fairground rides such as a full scale helter-skelter at St Johns green and swing boats, with classic favourites such as Punch and Judy, stalls and a skittles alley also being part of the days fun.

Speaking about the event, Mayor of Yeovil and District Councillor for Yeovil (East), David Recardo said, "Yeovil is really looking forward to hosting another Super Saturday event and I'm excited to give back to the community as a thanks for all their hard work, particularly those who have made Yeovil look so wonderful with the array of flowers in gardens and community sites, taken pride in allotments and produced some lovely vegetables for Yeovil in Bloom. There are many attractions in the town centre for visitors to enjoy, stretching from St Johns Churchyard and beyond all the way to the bottom of Middle Street."

The popular Buskfest returns to the town centre, with musicians playing at various busk stops around the town centre. All musicians are playing for charity. The Quedam will also be hosting craft stalls, a BMX bike tricks team, inflatables and an arts exhibition by the Eastville project titled 'Wyrd Wild West'.

This year sees the event going on into the night at Thorne House, Eastville where you can visit an art exhibition from 11.00am until 8.00pm. Iff you still have some energy to burn after a busy day in the town centre, why not check out more live music and performances at the R.O.A.B Club, Southville from 4.00pm until midnight (ticket required, for more detail go to wyrdfest.co.uk).

The presentation of Yeovil in Bloom Gardening Competition and the Best Kept Allotment prizes will take place around the bandstand area on Middle Street, as well as activities to keep your children entertained throughout the day, including 'Bugfest'. Catch their show between 1.00pm -1.45pm for all creepy crawly fans.

Browse the market stalls on Middle Street for some delicious fresh food and check out the community stalls area by the bandstand for a showcase of what's going on in and around Yeovil.

Councillor Peter Gubbins, Chairman of Area South Committee at South Somerset District Council said, "The District Council is once again thrilled to be supporting this wonderful event in Yeovil and we are hoping to see lots of visitors to the town centre enjoying the offerings of not only the events running on that day, but also the shops."

There's loads to do that is free of charge, so no need to spend a fortune, just come on down and enjoy the atmosphere. Super Saturday starts at 10.00am and runs until 4.00pm in the town centre.
