Business networking events aiding the enhancement of market towns

South Somerset District Council (SSDC) is supporting a series of events to encourage local businesses to network and develop contacts within their communities.

The networking events began a couple of years ago as part of the business resilience programme by SSDC. Kitchen at the Wharf, in Langport, is now co-ordinating and hosting the events with support from the council.

The business networking events have proved invaluable in enabling local businesses to have better knowledge of each other's activities and allowing each business to identify collaborative opportunities for the benefit of overall economic performance.

The next Social Business Networking meeting takes place on Thursday 6 September and Frome Independent Town Councillor, Jean Boulton, will be talking about the increasingly commercial environment in High Streets up and down the country.

'The Renaissance of Frome - what we can learn' talk will discuss how Frome bucked the trend and adapted to the commercial environment, how the town transformed and became a hub for the community and businesses alike, winning multiple accolades and appearing on The Times Best Places to Live list.

It's a ticket only event, numbers are limited and they are available to buy through eventbrite, the price includes food. Click here to visit the website.

Councillor Jo Roundell Greene, Portfolio Holder for Economy and Deputy Leader of South Somerset District Council said, "Business networking is a fantastic opportunity to learn from others and to gain new friends in the business community. The upcoming talk by Jean hopefully will enable businesses to better understand how they can buck the trend in the commercial environment and become a hub for communities and businesses."
