Identification and enquiry service

Have you ever wondered what happened to the George Inn in Yeovil, or would like to discover the identity of that mysterious metal object found in your flower border? Our Heritage Team could help!

We can help with:

  • local history enquiries
  • identifying objects (including archaeological items such as coins and discovered 'finds')
  • photographic reproduction (including copyright notification)
  • access to family history contacts and local name traces
  • providing local maps and local reference books
  • arranging research visits
  • accepting items to be donated into museum collections

We also have a large collection of South Somerset photographs, focusing on Yeovil, including people, places and events.

We aim to respond and answer enquiries within two weeks although some enquiries may take longer. Please note that we do not give valuations.
