Join in the Wildlife & Wellbeing Open Day at Yeovil Country Park this weekend
This Saturday sees the first Wildlife & Wellbeing Open Day take place at Yeovil Country Park with plenty of activity sessions for all the family to enjoy.
From pond dipping to Park Yoga, the activities that have been organised are aimed at helping to improve the wellbeing of residents, aiming to get more people out into the countryside and enjoying the delights and wildlife that are on offer.
You can join in activities between 11am and 3pm at Yeovil Country Park on Saturday 6 July.
Funded by Somerset Skills & Learning, the event is free for all and a fantastic opportunity to get out in the sunshine in nature and enjoy relaxing and creative activities.
Participants are asked to enrol at the Enrolment tent and the Friends of Yeovil Country Park stand opposite the Ninesprings Café and also fill in an evaluation form. Enrolment and evaluation is important because it helps for future funding and securing grants to enable further free events.
Activities on offer at the Open Day include:
- Park Yoga taster session
- Children’s yoga taster sessions
- Well Being Star Workshop
- Pond Dipping
- Bug Hunting
- Nature Trail

Councillor Mike Best, portfolio holder for Health & Wellbeing at South Somerset District Council, said: “Thanks to funding from Somerset Skills & Learning, we have been able to provide this fantastic free and fun Open Day for absolutely everyone.
“Being active and being outside plays an important part in ensuring that you feel good. There is evidence to prove that the outdoors improves your health and wellbeing, so events such as this are vital for helping residents across South Somerset.”
The Ninesprings Café will be open as normal between 9am and 5pm serving hot and cold drinks and a selection of snacks and ice creams for the hot weather. So why not make a day of it and with the weather set to continue to be sunny and warm, come and enjoy the offer of free family fun activities at Yeovil Country Park this weekend.
