South Somerset to benefit from free family fun as Playdays return
Free play activities will be coming to 20 communities in South Somerset this summer as part of the District Council’s annual Playdays.
Beginning in South Petherton on Wednesday 24 July, parents and children are invited to take part in events across the district from Wincanton to Combe St Nicholas.
Councillor Val Keitch, Leader of South Somerset District Council, explains more about the Playdays: “We offer these Playdays as a way giving families an exciting range of free activities during the summer holidays. They are a great way of bringing communities together and thousands of people come along to join in free fun.”
Children will be getting up close and personal with birds of prey to drumming workshops these events will bring a range of free play activities to different communities. Playdays not only increase the range of play for residents but also offer the chance to meet people and make new friends.
Councillor Mike Best, South Somerset’s Portfolio Holder for Health and Well-being, added: “This is part of South Somerset District Council’s ongoing work to increase and improve play opportunities for children in the district. Playdays have a special place in the community and we hope to see the same engagement as we had last year.”
