Tier 2 Business Support Grants now available

| District

Central Government Business Support Grants that are administered by South Somerset District Council are now available to businesses that have been affected by the Government’s Tiered system.

Under the new Support Grants, there are three different options available to businesses in South Somerset, including:

  • Tier 2 Local Restriction Support Grant for businesses that can open
  • Tier 2 Local Restriction Support Grant for businesses that must close
  • Christmas Support Payment for wet-led pubs

SSDC is urging businesses to act now and apply for their grant, as due to processing times, businesses may not receive their grant payment until the New Year. Applications will be processed as quickly as they possibly can.

Councillor Val Keitch, Leader of South Somerset District Council, said: “The Government has made a commitment to support businesses as much as they possibly can and as a District Council it’s our responsibility to administer such schemes.

“Our Officers have made the application process simple in order to ensure businesses apply quickly and we’ve set up the Tier 2 Local Restriction Support Grants and Christmas Support Payment as soon as we possibly can. We now simply urge as many business from across South Somerset to apply for these grants as soon as you can.”
