New grant scheme set to open for South Somerset businesses
A further grant scheme will open to businesses in the South Somerset area on Thursday 11th November at 11.30am and will remain open until Monday 22nd November 10am.
Businesses located in South Somerset who have been adversely impacted by Covid 19 over the past year may be able to benefit from the Council’s Business Revitalisation Grant. Grants of up to £10,000 are available to eligible businesses to boost their recovery and revitalise their business.
The fund is designed to support businesses who employ 10 or more individuals and have a business rates valuation of £15,001 or over. Businesses from any sector can apply. The key qualifying criteria is set our below:
- Employ at least 10 people
- Be a business ratepayer in South Somerset with a rateable value of £15,001 or over
- Demonstrate proven financial difficulty – at least 25% decrease in turnover as a result of the Covid crisis
South Somerset District Council (SSDC) is keen to receive applications from businesses who have not been able to access the support in proportion to the business losses during the national restrictions through the pandemic. It is also keen to support businesses who are still unable to operate at full capacity due to implications from Covid 19.
All applicants will need to apply via the online form. The application window will open at 11.30am on Thursday 11th November and is expected to close at 10am on Monday 22nd November.

Should the scheme be over-subscribed, the closure date may be brought forward, so businesses are encouraged to apply early on to ensure SSDC is able to consider their application. Businesses are encouraged to read the policy document on the website, in advance of applying.
The Business Revitalisation Grant is the latest discretionary scheme being made available by SSDC as part of the Additional Restrictions Grant allocated by Central Government.
