Freedom Leisure set to start operations in South Somerset on April 1st
On April 1st Freedom Leisure will take over the management of the leisure facilities in Yeovil, Wincanton and Chard on behalf of South Somerset District Council. Freedom Leisure is a not-for-profit leisure trust which manages leisure and cultural facilities on behalf of partners across the UK.
Freedom Leisure takes on the management of facilities at Goldenstones Leisure Centre and Westlands Sports and Fitness Centre in Yeovil, as well as Wincanton Sports Centre. Freedom Leisure will also be operating the superb new facilities currently being built in Chard as part of the Chard Regeneration programme.
In partnership with South Somerset District Council we have some exciting plans for the centres with over £3.5M to be invested to make changes and improvements to services and facilities.
In line with the current Government roadmap, all three centres in Yeovil and Wincanton will open on April 12th. We look forward to welcoming current and new customers to the centres and there are some great membership options available.
Lynda Pincombe, Specialist in Strategic Planning at South Somerset District Council, said: “We are excited to be working with Freedom Leisure over the length of the contract which commences tomorrow and look forward to seeing investment in the facilities across South Somerset that will benefit our communities and enable them to be healthy and have access to exceptional cultural and leisure activities.”
Ivan Horsfall Turner Managing Director at Freedom Leisure said: “We are pleased to be starting in Yeovil and Wincanton on the 1st April and together with South Somerset District Council we aim to continue to encourage a happy, healthy community – enabling more people to be more active more often.”
