Recycle More is (almost) here – check if you’re getting an extra rubbish collection tomorrow

Recycle More’s expanded collections kick-off in South Somerset on Monday, meaning residents across the district will be able to do even more to help protect our environment.

Bright Blue Bag deliveries will continue into Saturday (26 June) and a small number may need to be delivered on Monday. Any that do arrive on Monday will only be for residents who have their first new recycling collection later in the week, so everyone should have a bag by the time they need to use it.

If you haven’t had a bag by Tuesday, please request one here

Please note that there are one-off rubbish collections for some households on Saturday (26 June). This is to make sure no-one has to wait too long between rubbish collections when they move to the new service.

These collections will be taking place in parts of the following locations: Yeovil, East/West Coker, Chard, Tatworth, Forton, Templecombe, Henstridge, Milborne Port, Horsington, Sparkford, South Cadbury, Queen Camel, Compton Pauncefoot, Corton Denham, Kingsbury Episcopi, East/West Lambrook, Barrington, Hambridge, Ash, Long Load, Martock, Stembridge, South Petherton, Over Stratton, Lopen, Ilminster, Seavingtons, Shepton Beauchamp, Crewkerne, Merriott, Hinton St George, Higher/Lower Odcombe, Wincanton, Holton, North/South Cheriton, Maperton, Cucklington, Langport, Curry Rivel, Fivehead.

If you are due one, it will be marked clearly in the collection calendar in your “Recycle More is coming soon” leaflet. If that includes you, please put your rubbish out for collection tomorrow. If you need a copy of your collection calendar you can also request one here

Recent weeks have been tough for collections, with the national driver shortage hitting Somerset and SWP hard. Our contractor SUEZ has drafted in extra staff and vehicles and we have seen notable improvements this week.

We are ready to roll-out Recycle More and are sure it will follow in the footsteps of Mendip which has recycled an extra 100 tonnes of material each week since the launch of the service.
