Guildhall in Chard to open for the public to collect sandbags following heavy rainfall

We are aware that there has been heavy rain for a prolonged period in Chard and the surrounding area tonight.

As such, the Guildhall in Chard will be open tonight from 9.45pm for members of the public to collect sandbags if required.

If you are in urgent need of help and support, and are in danger, please dial 999.

If you need support but the issue is non-urgent, you can call Chard Mayor Jason Baker on 07736 310805 or 01935 462462 and our out of hours service will be available.

The Met Office has issued two weather warning for thunderstorms.

The first ends today (24 July) at 10pm with a warning that thunderstorms could cause flooding the disruption.

The second covers from 5am to 11.59pm tomorrow (25 July) and states that heavy showers and thunderstorms may lead to flooding and transport disruption in places on Sunday.
