South Somerset District Council is setting up a help and information centre at the Guildhall in Chard today for anyone affected by yesterday’s flooding.
Members of our Customer Connect team and Environmental Health team will be working alongside Chard Town Council at the Guildhall from 10am today (June 29) to offer advice and support.
Please follow social distancing and Covid-safe guidance if you are attending.
Our officers will also be visiting properties and business in Chard to offer further guidance and support.
Heavy rain affected several roads in and around Chard yesterday leading to several properties being flooded and road closures.
All roads have now reopened and, since 5am, South Somerset District Council’s street cleaning team has been assisting Somerset County Council Highways in ensuring debris and mud is cleared from affected roads.
The Met Office has advised that there are no weather warnings for South Somerset currently in place and further disruptive rainfall is not anticipated.
