Somerset flooding threat is no longer a major incident

The Environment Agency and the local authorities in Somerset have removed the major incident status declared last week as flood risk in the county has reduced.

An expert team from the Local Government Association (LGA) has commended work to create a new unitary council on 1 April this year. The new Somerset Council will replace Somerset County Council and the four district councils (Mendip, Sedgemoor, Somerset West and Taunton and South Somerset).

New branding for Somerset Council confirmed

The new branding for many of Somerset’s public services was confirmed at a meeting of Somerset County Council’s Executive today (14 December 2022), with the approval of a brand for the new Somerset Council.  The new brand will begin to appear on council services from April next year when the new unitary Council comes into existence.
