Dangerous buildings and demolition

If you are intending to demolish a building, or part of a building, exceeding 1,750 cubic feet you must let us know.

It is an offence to demolish a building without giving the necessary notice.

You should notify us at least 6 weeks before demolition starts.

This allows all the appropriate people and organisations to be advised of the proposed demolition and that measures to safeguard the health and safety of the public are put in place.

This also allows time for statutory bodies such as water and electricity companies to be notified, if necessary, together with the owners and occupiers of adjacent buildings.

We may also require you to carry out certain safety works after we have received and acknowledged your application.

Demolition must not start until a counter notice is received from us or until 6 weeks has passed.

Complete our demolition notice form.

There is no charge for this service.

Thank you. You response is appreciated.
