Apply for street trading consent
Street trading means the selling, or offering the sale, of anything in a street. This includes food and living things.
A "street" includes:
- any road, footway, beach or other area to which the public have access without payment
- a service area as defined in section 329 of the Highways Act 1980
- any part of a street
Street Trading is permitted within South Somerset by means of consent except for parts of Station Road Somerton where it is prohibited.
You may need to obtain a consent to trade even if you are trading on private land.
Trading without street trading consent where it is required is an offence.
For more information, including street trading statutory exemptions, view our policy.
