Taxi accidents and booking inspection

If you are a passenger or member of the public that has been involved in an accident with a taxi, use our report an issue with a taxi page.

If any licensed taxi is in an accident, you must let us know so that the taxi can be inspected as soon as possible. This is to make sure that it is still safe for both the driver and any passengers to use. This must be done within 72 hours of the incident, otherwise the taxi driver may receive penalty points on their licence.

Once a form has been submitted, we will confirm the date and time of an inspection, if one is deemed necessary.

If the taxi passes the inspection, no further action is needed and the taxi can continue operating as normal.

If the taxi fails the inspection, we will suspend the vehicle and the person who drove the vehicle will need to remove the internal and external plates.

In the meantime, a temporary vehicle licence can be applied while the repair work is taking place.

Once the work has been completed, an inspection will be needed to make sure the repairs to the vehicle are satisfactory and so that the taxi plates can be returned.

Thank you. You response is appreciated.
