These are not only used in our displays in and around Yeovil, but are supplied to other towns and villages across the South west, such as Sherborne, Crewkerne, Somerton, Castle Cary , Milborne Port and South Petherton.
We also supply many local businesses and individual customers across South Somerset with their floral displays. You can pre-order a complete basket from us or we can plant up your own basket or tub to a colour scheme of your choice.

Peat free options
Our nursery currently uses a range of top quality composts that are chosen for a plants individual growing needs. These include peat free, reduced peat and some peat based; as not every plant requires or suits a particular growing medium.
The majority of the hardy nursery stock and seasonal bedding plants available are grown in a reduced peat compost, but we are continually undertaking trials with a variety of peat free alternatives to widen our growing options. We do provide a range of Perennials, shrubs and bedding plants grown in peat free compost and recyclable pots and we are able to grow plants to your needs in a compost of your choice if required.

Educational links and talks

If you are a gardening society that is looking for guest speaker or a school or group that is looking to learn how plant up a basket, we can help. Please contact Stephen Fox on 07458136377.

'In Bloom' programme
Yeovil’s involvement with South West in Bloom started in 1996 and is funded by the Town Council and managed by SSDC, in association with a steering group made up of members the Local Community.
Our ‘In Bloom’ initiative exists to bring our communities and individuals together; by working together we aim to enhance and increase the quality and biodiversity of our town for our businesses, residents and visitors.
Yeovil is celebrating 26 years of entry into the competition and, thanks to our Community groups and 'It's Your Neighbourhood' (IYNs), we have gone from winning a Commendation in 1996 to many Golds. As well as being awarded a prestigious Silver Gilt in the National Bloom awards in 2019 and individual awards for Best portfolio, Best Youth Scheme and Best Municipal Display.
In Yeovil we like to say it with flowers; our baskets, floral tubs and barrier troughs, that can be purchased from our nursery, are known throughout the South west for their spectacular colours and quality. Our spring daffodil displays have made national news on several occasions. In the spring, people from all over the country comment on verges for their daffodil displays.
The towns’ entry into South West in Bloom helps create a sense of immense civic pride and encourages businesses and the public to take an active role in the development and protection of their environment. We are very proud of our community groups and IYN’s all of whom work tirelessly to make Yeovil a better place to live and visitAnd, proudly, they include:
- Able 2 Achieve
- YDH Hospital
- Kenmore Drive Gardeners
- MIND
- The HUB
- Community Payback
- Yeovil Allotments
- Brookie Bridge Project
- Love Yeovil
- Westfield Community Association
- Yeovil Rivers Community Trust
- Wyndham Park Community
- Florence Street Cleaning
These groups cover and provide a wide range of differing projects, from conservation management, street cleaning, art projects, one-to-one support to community enablement.
Each year, as part of our ‘In Bloom' entry, we invite residents and businesses to enter our own local ‘ Bloom’ garden competition, where they can enter their own fantastic floral achievements for assessment and have the opportunity to be awarded a trophy and be the ‘best overall’. These results are announced at Yeovil’s 'Super Saturday' in September.
Although our annual assessment takes place in July, each year we are assessed on everything that takes place throughout the year. If you are interested in getting involved then please contact either Stephen fox or Katherine Dover on 01935 462834.
We also are able to support other Towns and Parish councils within South Somerset who wish to enter the South West in Bloom competition through guidance, mentoring, provision of floral displays or additional maintenance operations. Please contact our lead ‘In bloom’ Officer Stephen Fox on 07458136377 for further information.
